About KudoKids

Approved language — quote it as written, or make it your own.

KudoKids is screen time that grows your kid. Built for children ages 3–12, it turns the screen time kids already get into time that builds them — grit, kindness, confidence, curiosity, responsibility, and smart money habits — through the Kudo Coin reward economy, where kids earn coins for real effort and spend them in a world parents can see into. Core functionality is free for every family, with no ads and no data ever sold. Founder-funded and recommended by child-development experts. Available on web, iOS, and Android.

FAQ

Questions Reporters Ask

Every answer here is verified and safe to print.

What is KudoKids?
KudoKids is a safe screen-time platform for kids ages 3–12, built around the Kudo Coin reward economy. Kids earn coins for real effort — routines, tasks, learning, kindness — and spend them in a world their parents have visibility into.
Who is it for?
The everyday parent who already allows screen time and wants it to count — and to stop feeling guilty about it.
How do kids earn and spend Kudo Coins?
Kids earn Kudo Coins by completing routines and tasks their parents approve. They spend them inside the app on companions, worlds, and games — and on TV, tablet, or gaming time outside the app, priced by the minute at rates the parent sets. The screen time is earned rather than given.
What platforms is KudoKids on?
Web, iOS, and Android — all live in early access now, with a growing library of games.
What does it cost?
$11.99 per month, $99 per year, or $249 for lifetime access. Core functionality is free for every family, and the pay-once lifetime option is rare in a subscription-dominated category.
Is it safe for kids?
No ads, ever. No data sold. Parents get visibility into what their kid is earning, playing, and learning.
How is KudoKids funded?
Founder-funded. No venture capital — a deliberate choice to keep KudoKids independent of investors pushing for ads or a data business.
Who recommends KudoKids?
KudoKids is recommended by child-development experts, including a licensed clinical mental health therapist and an emotional-intelligence specialist who tested the app.

FOUNDER BIO

Joseph — Founder, KudoKids

Joseph is a serial founder with a career spanning enterprise software, analytics, and technical leadership. He built his early work in the Salesforce ecosystem, went deep on analytics, and held a CTO role delivering software for enterprise clients before turning his attention to children's technology. KudoKids grew out of a parent's frustration that the screen time kids already get gives almost nothing back. Joseph chose to fund the company himself rather than take venture capital — a deliberate decision to keep KudoKids independent, ad-free, and aligned with families rather than a data-driven business model.

EXPERT VOICES

Recommended by Child-Development Experts

Approved, quotable endorsements — each one labeled with the speaker's relationship to KudoKids, paid or unpaid.

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist and a Kudo Kids partner, I have had the opportunity to test this app and have been genuinely impressed by its thoughtful approach to supporting children's healthy development through technology. Rather than simply providing screen time, the app encourages meaningful interaction between parents and their children while gradually fostering independence and responsibility. One of the features I appreciate most is the level of parental control and involvement. This creates a safe digital environment and helps them explore technology with appropriate guidance and boundaries. My favorite aspect of the app is its focus on building self-esteem. The research-informed games and activities are designed to encourage confidence, perseverance, and resilience in a positive and engaging way. These experiences help children develop important life skills while having fun. Overall, I believe this app is an excellent tool for families looking to introduce technology in a healthy, developmentally appropriate way.

I have watched KudoKids grow almost since the inception. I can see how beneficial it could be for families in teaching their children several life skills. From emotional regulation, to financial literacy, and even digital wellness this app can start kids on the path to success. This app is still a tool, but it is one that can easily be added to a parent's toolbox.

I highly recommend KudoKids for families looking to create structure, accountability, and consistency at home. It makes chores and daily responsibilities more engaging while helping children understand the connection between completing tasks and earning privileges like screen time. It’s a simple, family-friendly tool that can support independence, healthy boundaries, SEL, and positive routines.

I truly appreciate what you’ve created here. In a world where children are naturally drawn to devices, this app offers something parents can feel good about—safe, supportive, and intentional. It gives children a space to play, explore, and grow emotionally, while being protected from intrusive ads and influences that simply don’t belong in a child’s world. I especially value the inclusion of affirmations and emotional support—it’s not just screen time, it’s meaningful time. This is a thoughtful solution that meets families where they are, and I’m really glad it exists.

Getting the Details Right

Six things that keep coverage accurate — thank you for checking.

The name is “KudoKids”

One word, capital K’s. Not “Kudo Kids” or “Kudokids.”

The currency is “Kudo Coins”

Never “tokens,” “points,” or “rewards currency.”

Parents get “visibility”

Parents can see into the app — what kids are earning, playing, and learning. Please avoid “monitor,” “track,” or “surveil.”

“A growing library of games”

We don’t publish game counts — the library grows too often for a number to stay true.

Expert claim, exact wording

“Recommended by child-development experts.” We never state a number of experts.
