WHY THIS MATTERS

Before the commercial terms: three moments that start with a kid — yours or a listener's — and what each one changes for the show.

  1. The morning she just did it

A kid finishes the morning routine without being asked — not because someone finally found the right threat, but because finishing it is how the screen time gets earned, and she knows it.

    Why this works

The parent stops being the timer. The limit isn't a mood the child has to read or a fight to relitigate at seven at night — it's a rule she can see and work with, so the parent gets to be the one who notices she did it instead of the one who takes the tablet away. For the show, that's the difference between reading copy and recommending the thing that ended your own nightly negotiation — which is the only kind of recommendation a parenting show can afford to make.

The entire earning loop is free: routines, tasks and responsibilities that pay Kudo Coins, parents deciding what those coins buy — including off-app device time the parent configures with a countdown — a growing library of learning games that pay coins by score, and a parent side with one-tap or batch approval. None of that sits behind a card. Premium adds only the other themed worlds, companions, backgrounds, and companion looks and extras, plus KudoKids AI, a parent-side setup assistant kids can never talk to. If a listener's family later chooses Premium for those, you earn 20–25% recurring for 12 months from that family's first payment — but the recommendation was already complete before that sentence was true.

A 20-year longitudinal analysis of 84 young adults found that those who began contributing to household tasks at ages three to four were more likely, by their mid-twenties, to have good relationships with family and friends, to achieve academic and early-career success, and to be self-sufficient than those who started as teens or not at all. The study is correlational with a small sample — it describes an association, not a cause, and it is research on early responsibility rather than research on KudoKids. Rossmann, 2002, Department of Family Social Science, University of Minnesota.
  2. He finally had a word for it

The kid who goes quiet after a bad day — the one who says "fine" because he doesn't yet have anything more precise — opens the check-in and picks the word. Nobody scores it. Nobody grades it. It's just his.

    Why this works

The parent finds out something happened without running an interrogation at the dinner table. The child brought it; the parent didn't have to extract it. And there's a comfort flow waiting right after, so the moment doesn't just end in a data point. For you, that's an episode rather than an ad — you can talk for forty minutes about giving kids language for feelings and never once need the sponsor to be the point.

The daily check-in is free. So is the comfort flow after it, and the affirmations and meditations in the categories the parent approves. Never scored, never graded. Check-ins are on by default and a parent can turn them off. Commission enters only if a family later upgrades for the extra worlds and companions.

In a study of 197 preschoolers aged four to six, children's emotion-specific vocabulary was associated with their emotion knowledge and with behavioral emotion regulation. The effects were conditional — vocabulary depth and size interacted — and there was no effect for negative-emotion regulation. It is an association measured among preschoolers, not evidence that naming a feeling settles a hard one, and not a finding about KudoKids. 3. Put it in front of your own kid first

Your own child, on the couch, for one evening — before a single word is recorded. What she reaches for, what she ignores, whether she asks for it again tomorrow.

    Why this works

Whatever you say next is now true, so the listener who acts on it gets what they were promised — that is the entire mechanism by which a recommendation stays a recommendation. The read stops being copy and becomes testimony, and the show's one irreplaceable asset — the audience's belief that you would not point them at something that wastes their evening — survives contact with the sponsor.

Free Explorer is the whole system, not a teaser, so the version you try is the version your listeners get. Approved partners also receive a free Premium account for their own family. The checkable safety facts travel with it: no ads shown to kids, no contact with strangers, no child data sold, a safe browser with no address bar and no search, and social that passes a parent first — approval required, no real names, phone and email physically cannot be sent, siblings auto-connect. Live now on web, iOS and Android, so an evening is enough. Commission gets named out loud after you have decided the thing is worth naming at all — and the spoken disclosure is yours to make either way, because the FTC looks at you as the endorser, not us.

In a 2×2 experiment with 330 podcast listeners, hosts' perceived trust, credibility and authenticity — and the listener's sense of relationship with the host built on them — were what drove listeners' attitudes and behaviour toward the advertised brand. The host's own credibility is the channel the message travels through; the ad copy is not. Brinson & Lemon, 2023, Journal of Marketing Communications, 29(6), 558–576.View source →

Everything a careful reader wants to check, without cluttering the page for one who doesn't.

Everything that's in the app

A product your listeners can try free with their own kids before you say a word on-mic — and complete enough on the free plan that no one feels misled after they download it. That combination is what makes an ad read you can stand behind, not one you have to talk around.

1

Your listeners can vet it free — before you say a word on-mic

The hardest part of running a parenting show is that your name and voice stay attached to every sponsor you read. KudoKids is live now on web, iOS, and Android, and the free plan is the full learning system — not a teaser. You try it with your own kids first, then say only what you saw.

An endorsement with the smallest possible downside

The scar tissue every host carries is the sponsor whose problem became their problem. KudoKids is built so the recommendation can't cost your listeners: the free plan is complete, and the safety facts are the kind you can check yourself before you read them out loud.

Recurring commission built for a back catalog

Podcast episodes keep converting from show notes and archive listens for years — a one-time affiliate bounty doesn't. KudoKids pays 20–25% recurring commission for 12 months on every Premium subscription you refer, via Stripe Connect, so one good episode keeps paying the way an evergreen episode keeps working.

Ways to partner — impact, sponsorship, or commission

Most partners join to make an impact, not income — a free Premium account and Premium passes to share, with no financial relationship and nothing to disclose. You can also direct a KudoKids marketing impact fee to a 501(c)(3) you choose, or opt into commission.

Impact Partner — the default

Share KudoKids because you believe in it. No financial relationship, no disclosures — a free Premium account and Premium passes to give families.

Direct a marketing impact fee to a 501(c)(3)

When families you refer upgrade to Premium, KudoKids pays an impact fee from its marketing budget directly to a 501(c)(3) of your choice. You don't receive income — it's a business fee we direct toward causes our partners care about.

FAQ

Common Questions

It's performance-based, and we say so — no flat fee, no CPM guarantee. What's different: the commission recurs for 12 months per referred subscriber instead of paying a one-time bounty, and a parenting show's audience is the exact buyer, not a demographic guess. Because the read recommends something your listeners get free, it survives full disclosure. And if an episode doesn't convert, you've still given your show a good episode — that's the deliberate order of the ask: episode first, link second.

Standard rate is 20% recurring per referred Premium subscriber, scaling to 25% at higher referral tiers, for 12 months from their first payment. Commission is paid via Stripe Connect, NET 30, with a $25 minimum payout. It's standard taxable income — you'll receive a 1099 at year-end if applicable, the same as any freelance income.

Vet it first, free, with your own kids — the free plan is the whole system, not a teaser. The safety facts are checkable: no ads shown to kids, no contact with strangers, no child data sold, and no AI on kids' screens. It's live now on web, iOS, and Android, so you can try it in one evening and say only what you saw. And we want the disclosure spoken, not buried.

Yes — required by law and by your Commercial Agreement. A host-read ad is a personal endorsement, and commission is a material connection, so the disclosure must be spoken, in-audio: the FTC looks at you as the endorser, not us. The good news is that the free plan is complete, so the read survives full honesty — you can open with 'full disclosure, this is a sponsor and I earn a commission' and it still lands.

The model doesn't depend on download counts — recurring commission pays on conversions, so a 2,000-listener show with real trust is a strong partner. There are no download minimums, no media kit, and no CPM negotiation, just one 2-minute application. Approved shows get their partner link and creative assets right away.

No. KudoKids is free for families. Premium ($11.99/mo or $99/yr) is optional — it only unlocks the other themed worlds, companions, backgrounds, and companion looks and extras kids save their Kudo Coins to buy, so those coins become in-app rewards instead of more screen-time negotiations. Premium also includes KudoKids AI, the parent-side setup assistant. Your recommendation carries no financial risk for the families who listen.
