Why I'm Building This

Parents want what's best for their kids and often don't know how to give it to them.

We read the books. We listen to the podcasts. We do the work.

And still — work, school, screens, life — keep pulling us away from the kids we're trying to grow.

I'm a dad. I wanted my kids safe on the devices they were going to be on anyway. I wanted to trust what was happening on the other side of the screen. And I wanted more of my kids, not less of them.

So we built KudoKids. Therapists are already recommending it to the families they work with. Parents are telling me they're relieved to finally have their kid's growth in hands they trust.

Devices aren't the enemy. They're tools. We're building the ones that bring you back to your kid.

I'm Joseph — a dad of five, serial founder, and developer from North Carolina. I've spent 15 years building technology products for companies like Salesforce and Cisco. Now I'm building KudoKids.

I started KudoKids because I watched my kids bounce between a chore app, a learning app, a meditation app, YouTube, and random games — none of them connected, none of them building anything lasting. Five different apps, five different dashboards, and hours of screen time with nothing to show for it.

Meanwhile, the same kid who “couldn't focus” on homework would spend 45 minutes in a well-designed game — voluntarily following instructions, completing challenges, building something. The motivation was there. The design just wasn't.

So I asked: what if all of a child's screen time happened in one place, designed for growth? Not five disconnected apps, but one world where routines, learning, wellness, financial thinking, and imagination all work together.

How refunds actually work

Lifetime tiers stay refundable for the entire pre-launch window, plus 60 days after the app goes live — your refund clock starts at launch, not at purchase. Patron, Champion, and Architect tiers include physical coins (and, for Architect, a custom companion we build for you) — so refunds run on the Fall 2026 mint. Pull out any time before mint and you get 100% back; after mint, the unit cost is sunk and we can’t unwind it. We’ll email you 14 days before the cutoff so the deadline isn’t a surprise. Architect has one extra step: design kickoff begins July 1, 2026 — refund before then for full refund, or between July 1 and mint for $2,500 minus the $500 design fee. Refund requests are honored within 30 days of submission via Stripe. Stripe processing fees (~3%) are not recoverable on refunds. Defective physical product is always replaced at no cost.

The launch itself — marketing, app store distribution, and getting KudoKids into the hands of families who need it. And the runway to keep the core app free for every family, not just the ones who can pay. No VC, no second business model — your tier is the launch budget and the bridge that keeps the door open.
You get a full refund. We’ve been transparent about progress (87% built). If we miss the launch and decide to wind down, every founding family is refunded before we close the doors.
Two reasons. One — we need families willing to use it early and tell us what’s broken. Two — we’d rather fund the last mile with parents who’ll still be here in five years than with investors who need a 10× return on a schedule we can’t meet honestly.
All five tiers include lifetime Premium app access — every feature, every world, every future update, forever. You'll get a confirmation email with your founding family details. When the beta launches on June 1st, you'll be among the first families to get access. Before then, you'll receive progress updates and invitations to give feedback on features as we finalize them. Your Stripe receipt is your ticket in — no additional signup needed. Patron, Champion, and Architect families also receive their physical Kudo Coins shipped within 60 days of launch.
Refunds are tied to what we've physically committed for you — full policy lives at the 'How refunds work' section on this page. Lifetime tiers ($79 / $99) are refundable any time before launch and for 60 days after the app goes live, processed one-click through your Founder Dashboard — your refund clock starts at launch, not at purchase, so the entire pre-launch window is risk-free. Patron ($499) and Champion ($999) families are fully refundable any time before the Fall 2026 mint; we'll email you 14 days before the cutoff so the deadline isn't a surprise, and after mint the unit cost is sunk and we can't unwind it. Architect ($2,500) families are fully refundable through June 30, 2026 (before custom-design kickoff on July 1); from July 1 through the Fall mint you can refund $2,500 minus a $500 design fee; after the gold coin is struck, non-refundable. Defective physical product is replaced at no cost, always.
Lifetime Early is limited to 100 families at $79. When those 100 spots fill, lifetime access moves to $99 (Lifetime Charter, capped at 500 families). After both lifetime tiers sell out, lifetime access goes to $149 post-launch with no founding perks. The earlier you join, the more you save — and seats are filled in the order families purchase, not reserved.
Lifetime tiers ($79 / $99) are for families who want the app permanently at the best price — that's the whole reward. Patron-level tiers ($499 / $999 / $2,500) are for families who want to help shape what KudoKids becomes. They're physical collector pieces — cast brass, struck with the KudoKids mark, packaged as a keepsake. They're a thank-you bonus for backing us at a Patron-level tier; they don't unlock anything in the app and they're not redeemable for accounts (your lifetime Premium access is already included in every tier). Patron families receive 3 brass coins, Champion families receive 5, and Architect families receive 10 plus a gold-plated keepsake coin engraved with their family name. Think of them like a challenge coin or commemorative medallion — something to hand to a kid, frame on a shelf, or pass down.
Fifty families will be Champions. You receive everything Patrons get plus: two additional brass Kudo Coin keepsakes (5 total), the First Light aura (only Champion + Architect families ever get this), and a Patron-edition recolored variant of any existing companion in the app. Champion is the middle patron tier — for families who want more involvement than Patron but don't need a custom-designed companion of their own.
Ten families ever will be Architects. You receive everything in the Champion tier plus: five additional brass Kudo Coin keepsakes (10 total), a single gold-plated keepsake Kudo Coin engraved with your family name, the Genesis companion (only 10 holders ever), a custom-designed companion created collaboratively with our team, a premium velvet display case for the keepsake coin, a signed letter from the founder, and a direct email feedback line. The custom companion is designed for your family or community — you choose the visibility (private, shared-private with your community, or public). Every visibility level requires our approval, and we don't allow public branded characters (we won't market your brand to other families). The custom companion belongs to KudoKids — you receive exclusive access and visibility control, not IP ownership.
The coin images on this page are digital renders — cast metal has natural manufacturing variation in patina, polish, and fine-detail reproduction, so your physical coin will differ slightly from what you see here. We approve every finished coin against our quality bar before it ships; if your coin fails our QC, you receive a replacement at no cost — no time limit on defective product. The companion previews shown on the Architect tier are illustrative examples of design range — your custom companion will be unique to your family and designed collaboratively with our team, not selected from those examples. The decision point for cosmetic preferences happens before the Fall 2026 mint, not after delivery — once your coins are struck the unit cost is locked, so we email Patron/Champion/Architect families 14 days before the mint cutoff so you can pull your refund if the look isn't for you.
Yes. As long as KudoKids exists, your access remains active. Every feature, game, world, companion, and content update we release — included at no extra cost. If we're ever acquired or shut down, founding families will receive at minimum 12 months advance notice and a full data export. It's in our terms. We stand behind "forever."
Yes — when we launch, there will be a free Explorer plan with one child profile, basic routines and tasks, the Space world with Cosmo the companion, and 5 games. The founding offer gives you everything, permanently, at a fraction of what the lifetime price will be after launch. And every plan — free or paid — is ad-free. Always.
